Friday Harbor
Woohoo! Quickly after checking in, we decided we wanted to stay for 2 nights instead of 1, so I went to the office to see if we could stay another night, and got the go-ahead.
Brian now has a lot of meetings for tomorrow instead of the few he thought he was going to have, so we’ll wait another day. Doing customs can be pretty distracting, and this will also give me more time to do errands here in Friday Harbor.
We went to an artist talk at the San Juan Island museum of art. The artist is ironically from Olympia and has quickly become one of my favorite artists. He carves feathers. It’s absolutely incredible work. He recently published a book of his works that he didn’t have with him at the talk because they were just ordered. But I hope I can buy one online later. When we get back to Olympia I think I will reach out to him and see if he would be open for a studio tour. His work is so so cool. And Chris is genuinely a kind soul.
After, we went to the brewery for dinner. We always like going to San Juan Brewery.
On the way back to the boat We were offered beer from a guy walking back to his boat who looked pretty drunk so we accepted his beer. And he went on his way. Later we realized it wasn’t beer. After all it was hard. Seltzer. Brian was like hey this isn’t even beer! This is girl beer! Haha. We added them to our stash in the bilge.
The next day I started by doing laundry. Even though it’s only been a week, and the walk is far, it will be easy here.
Then I went on a search for mosquito repellent – the kind that you soak your clothes in… No luck.
I went to the grocery store and found out that with a $100 purchase you can get a free ride back to the marina. Score! Pretty easy to get a $100 grocery bill these days. I tried getting some artisan dips in hopes of sharing for upcoming appy hours. :smiley:
I spent some time visiting some of the shops and buying some fun things for ourselves.
And then back at the boat I took advantage of the hose hookup and gave the boat a bath since we didn’t get to do that before we left Olympia.
We went to the Brewery again for dinner and this time, there was a local there, with his pet bird on his shoulder. Haha. We told him about the art exhibit at the museum, and he was appreciative. He mentioned he’s having friends come to town soon and they’re looking for things to do so they will probably visit the museum.
